About this event

The Latin American Coalition and Levine Museum of the New South will bring the 22nd annual Día de Muertos Festival back to Camp North End, 300 Camp Rd., Charlotte, noon- 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, celebrating Mexican culture and traditions through art, music, food and community.

The altar exhibition is also open to community participation, with individuals, groups and organizations invited to apply to create an ofrenda honoring loved ones who have died. Altars, traditionally decorated with photos, candles, flowers, food and mementos, are a central part of Día de Muertos.

This year also brings an expanded Kids Zone, moving outdoors to the Camp North End green area with face painting, a bounce house and other children’s activities. Artist Luis Abundez will expand upon artwork featured at previous festivals, and local band Furia Tropikal will close out the celebration with a live performance following the Catrina Parade.
