Active Reading Family Workshop

About this event

Reading TO your kids is fun, but reading WITH your kids can shape their future. When you engage with your kids while reading, they learn new words, new ideas, and new ways to comprehend the world around them. Come learn fun ideas and activities that you can use to support early literacy at home in a fun workshop you can attend with your child (geared to ages 2-5) ! Learn about the practice of Active Reading, or reading aloud with your child by asking questions, building vocabulary, and connecting to your child's world. Active Reading is proven to improve your child's language, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. Learn how to use the ABC's of Active Reading by seeing Active Reading modeled in action! All families that attend will receive 3 free books to use during the workshop and to keep at home. For more information about Active Reading, visit https://cmlibrary.org/active-reading .
