ROTARY LIVE THIS FRIDAY—Welcome Jim Almas and Kyle Romanat

Jim Almas was born and raised in Havre, Montana. He earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from Columbia University, followed by an internship and residency at LA County-USC Medical Center. He subsequently became board-certified in pathology and thoroughly enjoyed practicing pathology in both Southern California and Mississippi.

Jim later served with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at its headquarters outside Baltimore before leading the Molecular Diagnostic Program for Palmetto GBA, a Medicare Administrative Contractor, in Columbia, South Carolina. From 2018 to 2026, he served as Labcorp’s National Medical Director. Today, Jim is enjoying a new chapter as an independent consultant, bringing decades of medical, laboratory, and healthcare leadership experience to his work.

Kyle Romanat was born in Baudette, Minnesota. As the child of a US Air Force officer, he moved around frequently, spending 4 formative years living in Japan, before settling in Rhode Island, which is the place he claims as his home state. He attended college at the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point NY, and upon graduation, took a commission in the US Navy. He was assigned to Naval Air Station Pensacola, for flight training as a Naval Flight Officer, eventually flying in the P3-Orion anti-submarine aircraft.

Following his military service, Kyle spent time chasing adventure as a carpenter on log homes in the NC mountains, as a ski instructor at Sugar Mountain, and as an insurance agent when he finally decided to get a "real job". In 2015, Kyle started his own company, Health Market Genius. LLC, which he currently owns and runs in the Charlotte area. He is married to the beautiful, Marianne Romanat, pastor of Light of Christ Church, in Ballantyne. He has 4 kids, ages 20 through 36, who have strongly contributed to his increasing grey hair.
