About this event

This one-day leadership development experience is designed for mid-to-senior professionals who are ready to move beyond managing tasks and start developing the people around them. Built on the latest research in coaching psychology, adult development, and leadership effectiveness, this program challenges participants to rethink how they communicate, delegate, and grow their teams.

Whether you lead a small team or a large organization, this program will equip you with the skills, mindset, and tools to create a culture where people take ownership, grow with confidence, and perform at their best. This course is one of several open enrollment leadership programs comprising the Certificate in Leadership . Programs are presented on a rotating basis throughout the year with completion of four programs resulting in a Certificate in Leadership.

What you'll learn

• Distinguish coaching from mentoring, advising, and managing — and know when each approach is most effective.

• Apply the GROW model and other evidence-based coaching frameworks to real leadership conversations.

• Use powerful questioning techniques drawn from motivational interviewing and solution-focused coaching.

• Recognize and shift from a "tell" mindset to a "coach" mindset in daily leadership interactions.

• Deliver mentoring that expands perspective without creating dependency.

• Delegate in ways that build autonomy, capability, and accountability — not just compliance.

• Design a personal action plan for creating an empowerment culture within their team.
