Science and Spirituality: On Mystery and Matter

About this event

Welcome to a fusion of our civilization's biggest endeavors!

Science and religion have shared a long, complicated history. Sometimes they have been rivals, at times partners, and often something in between. Drawing on essays from Religion and the Natural Sciences: The Range of Engagement, let’s trace the many ways these domains have met: in conflict, in collaboration, in careful separation, and in thoughtful dialogue. We’ll examine how each shapes the other’s questions, methods, and sense of what counts as truth.

Whether you come with a background in the sciences, theology, or neither, bring your questions, your objections, and your willingness to listen. This is a space for rigorous, respectful discussion about how we seek truth, about the natural world and about the meaning of our place within it.

Step into the conversation with curiosity and an open mind :)
