Claudia Sahm is Chief Economist at New Century Advisors and creator of the Sahm Rule , a widely followed indicator used to identify the onset of a recession. Previously, she spent twelve years as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board and has advised both the White House and Congress on economic policy.

Sahm also writes the Stay-At-Home Macro newsletter and contributes to Bloomberg Opinion, providing analysis on the U.S. economy, labor markets, inflation, and monetary policy. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree from Denison University.
