Descartes walks into a bar

About this event

The bartender asks, “Will it be the usual, Mr Descartes”

"I think not" says Descartes. And vanishes immediately.

We take logic for granted. It shapes our arguments, beliefs, and everyday decisions. But have you ever stopped to question the very rules by which we reason? Is logic universal, or could there be more than one way to think logically? Are truth and logic the same thing, or can something be perfectly logical and still be completely wrong?

Join us for a spirited philosophical discussion as we explore the foundations of reasoning, the limits of certainty, and the curious ways our minds make sense of the world. From Descartes’ radical doubt to the paradoxes of everyday thinking, we’ll ask whether logic helps us discover truth, or merely helps us justify what we already believe.

No reading necessary! Just bring your curiosity, your skepticism, and perhaps a questionable argument or two. After all, a philosopher walks into a bar… but can anyone prove it?
