About this event

Experience the calming power of group chanting through simple, call-and-response melodies. Rooted ancient traditions, kirtan is less about performance and more about presence-a form of meditation using voice, breath, rhythm, and repetition. No singing experience or spiritual background is needed. Simply come as you are and let the music carry you into a place of stillness, connection, and peace.

How to Prepare:

Please bring a yoga mat and pillows if you'd like to sit on them. We offer yoga bolsters and vegan faux fur mats.

About Your Host:

Jason Hart

Jason Hart began his spiritual journey as a teenager in Midland, Michigan, after reading Dr. Raymond Moody’s Life After Life (about research into Near Death Experiences), then exploring Native American practices in the Lakota Sioux tradition. With the birth of his son William, he turned toward Eastern traditions, studying Theravada Buddhism and serving on the board of the Charlotte Buddhist Vihara under Ayya Sudhamma. His path then led to Advaita Vedanta and Kirtan, where he discovered Neem Karoli Baba in 2018 and later met Krishna Das, one of Baba’s followers and a renowned Kirtan practitioner. He also deepened his connection to the Advaita tradition through Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Sarvapriyananda, and the Charlotte Vedanta Society. Today, Jason devotes himself to Kirtan as a path of meditation, devotion, and unity, hosting weekly Sunday gatherings with his wife Loan in their home.
