Looking for a friendly group to play American Mahjong with in the Pineville/South Charlotte area? Come join us! Pineville Neighbors – Mahjong & Friends meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month for a relaxed evening of Mahjong, conversation, and new friendships. 📅 When: 1st & 3rd Friday of each month ⏰ Time: 6:00–8:00 PM 📍 Where: Amélie’s French Bakery – Carmel Commons 7715 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Unit 34B Charlotte, NC 28226

🀄 What to Expect

This is a casual and social American Mahjong open play , not a competitive tournament. Come play a few games, meet your neighbors, make new friends, enjoy some coffee or treats from Amélie’s, and have a fun Friday evening together. We welcome players with different levels of experience. You don't need to be an expert! If you know the basics but are still learning and practicing, you are welcome to join us. Please note: This is primarily an open-play event rather than a formal beginner lesson. If you've never played American Mahjong before, please contact the organizer before signing up so we can refer you to other places to take the first American mahjong 101 and 102 classes.

Bring your current Mahjong card! If you have an American Mahjong set , please bring it as well. The more sets we have, the more people we'll be able to accommodate. Extra sets may also be available.

Amélie’s is graciously providing us with a comfortable place to gather and play. We encourage everyone to purchase a drink, pastry, dessert, or something to eat while you're there.

🀄 Attendance Policy

Our Mahjong events depend on having the correct number of players at each table. A no-show or late arrival can leave three people waiting and may prevent an entire table from playing. We also normally have a long waitlist of people hoping to attend . When someone holds a spot but does not show up or cancels at the last minute, another member misses the opportunity to participate. Please respect the host, your fellow players, and those on the waitlist by following these guidelines:

RSVP Responsibly

Please RSVP only if you genuinely plan to attend. If the event is full, your RSVP is holding a spot that could otherwise be offered to someone on the waitlist.

Cancellations

If your plans change, please update your RSVP at least 24 hours before the event whenever possible. This gives us time to notify someone on the waitlist. We understand that emergencies happen. If you must cancel at the last minute, please send the host a message instead of simply not attending.

Arrive on Time

Please try your best to be on time. If you are going to be late, please notify the host the estimate arrival time so your table mate know what to expect.

No-Shows

• After the first no-show or uncommunicative late arrival, you will receive a reminder of this policy.

• After a second occurrence, you may be moved to the waitlist for the next Mahjong event.

• Repeated no-shows, no communication about being late may result in losing RSVP privileges for future Mahjong events.

We want these events to remain welcoming, fair, and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you for keeping your RSVP updated, arriving on time, communicate if you will be late and giving waitlisted members a fair opportunity to attend! 🀄
