  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted the South Carolina Interfaith Youth Panel in York County, where over 120 local youth from diverse faiths engaged in dialogue and shared values (compassion, service, respect) that forge unity in the community.  Tega Cay Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Red Cross of South Carolina reported a 35% drop in blood donations and urges healthy donors to schedule appointments as hospitals need type O, A negative and B negative blood; donations made by Jan. 25 will include an automatic entry in an NFL promotion for a Super Bowl LX trip package.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Fort Mill residents can prepare for freezing winter outages by sealing gaps in doors and windows, gathering in a single room, and running water slowly from exposed pipes; local officials advise having flashlights, food, and emergency plans ready to avoid property damage and hazardous conditions when power is lost.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior Ella Nighbor (of Clover High School) was named the 2025-26 Gatorade South Carolina Girls Cross Country Player of the Year after winning the Class 5A state individual title in a time of 17:37.78. She balances a 5.52 GPA with volunteer work and plans to run for USC this fall.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Three high school coaches earned state acclaim after the SCTCCCA named Lee Whitaker of Fort Mill High as both boys' and girls' coach of the year, Ben Clark of Clover High as girls' coach, and Trish Sacco of South Pointe as boys' coach — their teams claimed state titles.  Tega Cay Sun
