EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Amanda James, a Fort Mill resident, was appointed by Winthrop University as vice president for enrollment management & marketing effective Feb. 1. She will lead admissions, financial aid, and marketing operations while replacing Joseph Miller, who resigned for a position closer to his family in Georgia. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ Fort Mill students Kaiah Campbell, Brinley Ellis, Wesley Moore, Mackaylan O’shields, Sydney Pierce and Kaitlyn Shockley earned honors on ETSU's fall 2025 dean's list by meeting the school’s academic standards that require 12 credits with no grade below B- and a 3.5 GPA. Tega Cay Sun
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ State health inspectors visited 193 restaurants in York County in January, citing safety violations at five including Jekyll and Hyde Taphouse on Market Street and John Boys on Spratt Street in Fort Mill — all have since corrected their issues and earned A ratings. Tega Cay Sun
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Feb. 5, Fort Mill boys' basketball beat Northwestern 53-40 to improve to 18-6 while the girls won 64-27, and the wrestling team opened playoffs with a 72-6 win; they will next compete at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 — keeping local sports rolling forward. Fort Mill Prep Sports
