- ➤ A new bill introduced by Rep. Dennis Moss (District 29) in the state legislature proposes to treat intentional balloon releases as litter, with fines up to $1,000 and possible jail time. The measure, aimed at protecting wildlife, agriculture and tourism, awaits further debate. Tega Cay Sun

- ➤ Trees are releasing pollen early as temperatures near the 70s, causing allergy symptoms for many residents. Health experts advise keeping windows closed + showering after outdoor time to reduce irritants. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ The FDA raised a peanut butter recall by Ventura Foods to a Class II risk on Feb. 12 after blue plastic pieces were found in single-serve packs distributed to 40 states, including local institutions. - ➤ A WalletHub report (released today) finds South Carolina ranks fourth in real estate property taxes and 47th in vehicle taxes, with residents paying $1,251 on a median home value while average U.S. bills total $3,119 and include an extra $499 in states with vehicle taxes. Tega Cay Sun
