- ➤ The York County Regional Chamber of Commerce held its 26th Annual Awards Celebration on Feb. 26, 2026 in Rock Hill, honoring local leaders and entrepreneurs, including Chef Jon Fortes (Fort Mill/Tega Cay Business Person of the Year) for their contributions to the community. Tega Cay Sun
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Model A Brewing is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day Bash on March 17 at the taproom. The event will feature live bagpipes from (Scott Mackay), authentic Irish fare, and specialty drinks to celebrate the holiday. Tega Cay Sun
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Soham Sahu from Pleasant Knoll Middle School won the district’s 22nd annual spelling bee and will join four finalists at the regional event at Bank of America Stadium. Thirty students from six middle schools displayed their talent and determination + community pride. Tega Cay Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Town of Fort Mill and its school district launched a Traffic Enforcement Officer Program on Feb. 24 to assign two police officers to manage school zone traffic during peak periods (morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, and school events) and reduce roadway congestion. Tega Cay Sun

- ➤ Nation Ford girls’ lacrosse made a strong start with a 19-3 win on Thursday against Providence High, led by new head coach Greg Allen who emphasized team-focused play — their next game against A.C. Flora is scheduled for today. Fort Mill Prep Sports
