  • Ameriprise financial advisor Michael Matus presents The Weekender with local events from March 14 through 16 that include Friday music at Crossroads, shows at Tega Cay Tavern and karaoke at John’s Place. The guide also lists Saturday festivities for St. Patrick’s Day at Old Town and Baxter Village, and Sunday gatherings at Crossroads and Tega Cay Tavern—giving Fort Mill locals plenty of options each day.  Tega Cay Sun

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A total lunar eclipse known as the Blood Moon will occur tonight, March 13, 2025, in Tega Cay — the Earth’s shadow will give the moon a reddish-orange look with totality starting at 2:26 a.m. EDT and clear skies with a 54°F forecast promising good visibility.   Tega Cay Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A recent poll by The Trafalgar Group from March 8 to 10, 2025 shows Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette leading likely Republican voters with 31.5 percent support in the 2026 governor’s race while Nancy Mace has 29.1 percent, Attorney General Alan Wilson has 27.9 percent & U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman has 11.5 percent.  Tega Cay Sun
  • The York County Sheriff’s Office is holding its quarterly hiring event on March 26 from 4-7pm to fill roles such as detention officers, nurses (LPN and RN) and booking clerks. Applicants must meet minimum requirements and complete a series of tests and interviews as part of the structured selection process.  WRHI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fort Mill High School’s track teams won a dual meet against Catawba Ridge on March 12, 2025— the girls scored 148—25 and the boys edged a 87.5—85.5 win in a contest decided by the final 4x400—meter relay; both teams will compete next at the Trojan Relays in Rock Hill Saturday.  WRHI
  • Nation Ford Falcons boys tennis won its Region 3-5A opener over Indian Land by winning every match in straight sets—Colt Mohler won his match 6-2, 6-3 as new coach Claudia Vizzini leads the team. Fort Mill boys tennis beat Rock Hill 5-1, the golf team won against Catawba Ridge, and the girls lacrosse team lost 21-8 to Charlotte Latin on March 13.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • On senior night, the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets lost 3—5 to the James F. Byrnes Rebels in a defensive lacrosse game. Fort Mill’s goalie Jack Annin made many saves, but the Rebels controlled the pace and scored decisively.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Fort Mill baseball evened the series against Catawba Ridge with a 5—0 win at home as starter Alex Carreiro pitched six scoreless innings and allowed just one hit. The Jackets now hold a 4-1 record as they prepare for game three on Friday.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
