- ➤ WorldAtlas has named Fort Mill and Tega Cay two of nine top places to live in South Carolina for 2025 because of strong schools, low crime, and many local amenities.—Both towns near Charlotte offer quality housing, community events, and outdoor options that enhance everyday life. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ At the Humane Society of York County in Fort Mill, Hurley is a cat aged 1 year and 6 months who was rescued from a hoarding situation and is now looking for a home. Poncho is a 1 year old stray rottweiler mix who has shown a loving nature and is ready for adoption — both pets are fully vaccinated and neutered. Tega Cay Sun

- ➤ Winthrop University reopened its historic Byrnes Auditorium after lengthy renovations that added a new elevator and expanded restrooms — updates that also refreshed the stage rigging, flooring, and curtains. A week-long celebration will begin April 4 with free music events that showcase the renewed space. Tega Cay Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ South Carolina lawmakers are debating a bill that could legalize sports betting for adults — the proposal would allow online and in-person wagers and impose a 12.5% tax to generate between $13 million and $31 million in revenue annually. Governor Henry McMaster has said he will veto the bill and critics warn that legalizing sports betting may increase gambling addiction. Tega Cay Sun
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, March 17th, Fort Mill High School sports teams delivered strong performances—its baseball team beat Clover 4-2 and its men’s lacrosse team won 14-1 over Dutch Fork. Nation Ford’s lacrosse squad also won 11-7 against Riverside while Catawba Ridge’s baseball team lost 4-3 to Northwestern, leaving the Copperheads with a 2-2 region record. Tega Cay Sun
