ECONOMY NEWS

  • Komar Industries announced it will relocate to an existing facility at 200 Ratchford Road in York County, creating 160 jobs and making an $11.5 million investment. The company will expand its recycling and waste management operations from Charlotte and begin work by July.  WRHI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the Fort Mill School Board meeting on March 18, 2025, board members reviewed a year four update of the strategic plan, discussed the 'Splash with Confidence' swim program, examined the draft calendar for the 2026—2027 school year, and received a superintendent search update led by BWP and Associates; they also approved bond resolutions for facility improvements and inducted the 2024 Hall of Fame class while a community forum for the search is scheduled for today at 6 p.m. and an online survey is open until March 24.  Tega Cay Sun

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in South Carolina are watching thousands of migrating hummingbirds start their annual journey back to gardens this spring. Bird experts advise creating natural, pesticide-free spaces to support the birds—planting native flowers such as bee balm and hummingbird sage and offering clean feeders.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • On March 19, the Catawba Ridge Copperheads softball team beat Fort Mill 11-1 in their Region 3-5A opener and improved to a 12-0 record this season. Fort Mill, playing in its third game, will host Northwestern on March 21—hoping to build on early efforts.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
