ECONOMY NEWS

  • State employees in South Carolina will get a 2% raise and public school teachers will receive an extra $1,500 under the House budget proposal that allocates $66.5 million to boost wages—if approved, the plan moves to the Senate for review before taking effect in July.  Tega Cay Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • National Medal of Honor Day was observed on March 25th to honor Medal of Honor recipients, including 33 South Carolina heroes from the Civil War to the War on Terror—Congress set aside the day to recognize their bravery and sacrifice.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Catawba Ridge won 1-1 (4-2) in a penalty shootout against Nation Ford Tuesday night at The Pit after freshman Declan Hogan gave the Copperheads an early lead and four seniors scored during the shootout; the teams will meet again on April 17 during the regular season.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets suffered their first tennis loss of the season on March 25 when the Nation Ford Falcons edged them 4-3—three matches went to tiebreakers with Nation Ford winning two. The roundup also noted that Nation Ford girls’ soccer won 2-0 while its girls’ lacrosse and boys’ golf teams posted contrasting results.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
