BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mac’s Speed Shop is set to open its new Fort Mill location at 1954 S.C. Highway 160 after permit delays and town approvals. The restaurant will feature its signature design—steel and burnt wood—and serve its well-known barbecue and Southern favorites.  WRHI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 1 the Fort Mill School Board met to celebrate student successes, approve a strategic plan with a new textbook list, and set a timeline for a superintendent search with applications due by April 28 and interviews in May — they also updated local finances and outlined safety measures to test air quality at Flint Hill schools near proposed Silfab Solar facilities. The actions show the board’s focus on strong academics and student health as they plan improvements for the district.  Tega Cay Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Hall from Hall Chiropractic Center, who serves Fort Mill, explained that traveling with an older person requires choosing accessible destinations, transportation, and lodging to address mobility issues and ensure a safe trip. He stressed that simple accessible measures—like ramps and grab bars—reduce travel stress for everyone.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tuesday night's high school sports games made up for Monday's weather cancellations—local teams played several contests. Fort Mill High School won in baseball 10 to 0, soccer 1 to 0 and tennis 6 to 0 while Nation Ford, Indian Land and Catawba Ridge also earned wins with scores of 12 to 1, 9 to 4 and 4 to 0 respectively.  Tega Cay Sun
  • The Clover Blue Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Catawba Ridge Copperheads 11-4 after the Copperheads trailed 6-3 through three quarters. The loss left the Copperheads at 5-6 overall and 0-3 in Region 3-5A—Coach Mike Gambrill said his team ran out of steam.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
