- ➤ Duke Energy and York County emergency management officials will test 89 outdoor warning sirens near Catawba Nuclear Station on April 9th between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The test features short blasts (lasting five to 30 seconds) to ensure the system works properly, and no action is needed by residents. - ➤ Residents living within a 10-mile radius of the Catawba Nuclear Station will hear routine siren tests on April 9th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—Duke Energy and York County emergency management officials will activate 89 sirens that sound for 5 to 30 seconds and may be tested more than once to ensure the warning system works properly. - ➤ Last night, Northwestern hosted a track and field meet against Fort Mill that featured fast sprinters, steady mid-distance runners and strong relay teams. Fort Mill girls remained unbeaten while athletes from both schools showed skill in hurdles, sprints and jumps — making the contest a memorable display of local talent. WRHI
- ➤ Fort Mill Prep’s Lady Jackets swept the season with an 8-7 win over the Catawba Ridge Copperheads on April 3 as Rylee Raiter scored the match-winning goal with 2:04 left and goalkeeper Grace Boyd made a key stop; Nation Ford girls lacrosse beat Clover 11-8, Fort Mill softball lost 5-1 to Clover, and both the Fort Mill and Nation Ford tennis teams secured wins.
