- ➤ On April 8, Ted Wolff and Summersby Okey from Habitat for Humanity of York County hosted a golf tournament to benefit Habitat for Humanity. WRHI
- ➤ Anne Springs Close Greenway hosted Earth Day events from April 7 in honor of the occasion and is hosting outdoor yoga and a kids’ kayaking clinic today. It will continue with a campout and live music on April 11, a night of camping and volunteer trail work on April 12, and a bass fishing tournament with a Catawba Nation drum and dance performance on April 13 — giving Fort Mill residents many ways to connect with nature. - ➤ At the April 7th council meeting, York County Council approved record school impact fees for Fort Mill that set rates at $29,640 for single-family homes and $20,796 for multifamily units to support new school facilities amid growth— the council also approved transferring EMS services to Atrium Health and a 5% pay raise for law enforcement. - ➤ South Carolina legislators are considering a bill that would ban private businesses from requiring employees to get vaccinated. The proposal also sets a 21-day limit on quarantine periods and gives law enforcement a role during public health emergencies—supporters say the changes aim to protect individual rights. WRHI

- ➤ On April 8, the Catawba Ridge girls’ soccer team won 7 to 0 over Northwestern on senior night as Brooks Dority and Phoebe Serkin each scored twice while teammates added to the win that keeps the team in a tight region race. Coach Joe Dority said the team is building confidence for the playoffs—Nation Ford won in boys’ tennis and golf while Fort Mill baseball defeated Lancaster 21 to 2 in non-region play.
