- ➤ On Thursday morning, a shooting on Porter Road near Fire Tower Road resulted in the York County Sheriff's second homicide investigation this year—an arrest was made as details remain limited pending the victim's identification from the Coroner's office. WRHI
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Fort Mill was named the 7th fastest growing suburb in America after a GOBankingRates study reported a 77.6% increase in population between 2018 and 2023. The study noted that the town has a median household income of $127,537 and attracts new residents with its close access to Charlotte and strong schools. WRHI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new bill at the statehouse will make it a serious crime to hurt police dogs or horses, with a fine of up to $2,000 and at least two years in jail as penalties. Police say the change is needed (each dog costs over $18,000 to train and takes more than 600 hours) because the bill is still under review (law enforcement groups support the plan). Tega Cay Sun

- ➤ State DHEC is offering free radon test kits—available while supplies last—to help residents check their homes for radon, a colorless and odorless gas linked to lung cancer.
