  • Carowinds will host a Lifeguard Hiring Event on April 26 and April 27 at its Employment Office from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.—candidates can apply for lifeguard and returning lifeguard roles and may complete onboarding that same day while earning $15.50 and $16.00 per hour, respectively, along with benefits such as free park admission and discounts on food and merchandise.  Tega Cay Sun

CRIME NEWS

  • On April 17, York County Sheriff's deputies used handheld receivers from Project Lifesaver—recovering a missing 5-year-old girl with Down syndrome who had been trapped in a parked car for about 20 minutes—after she wandered away from her home on Dayton Road.  Tega Cay Sun
  • York County deputies located a missing five-year-old girl with Down syndrome using the new Project Lifesaver program after her mother activated a tracking bracelet and called 9-1-1—she is now safe.  Tega Cay Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The FBI Columbia field office is marking the 45th anniversary of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, which began in 1989 and now includes 19 officers from 12 agencies in South Carolina. The group has disrupted local threats such as an explosive plot near the Pickens County Courthouse and a shooting incident at a Duke Energy site in Dalzell—demonstrating its ongoing role in protecting communities.  Tega Cay Sun
