EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of South Carolina Beaufort announced its Winter 2024 Chancellor’s List—honoring undergraduates who maintained high academic standards—with several local students recognized from Fort Mill along with peers in York and Lancaster counties. This honor reflects their strong academic records and marks a notable achievement for our community. WRHI
- ➤ Several students from York and Lancaster counties were named to USCB’s Winter 2024 Chancellor’s List for academic excellence; the list honors degree-seeking undergraduates who maintained high grades. The university announced the list (which requires full-time enrollment) after reviewing student records (including four local students from Fort Mill). Tega Cay Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Henry McMaster signed legislation that merges the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, and the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services into one department called the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities—this change will streamline services and appoint a new director to lead the transition, which is expected to take several months.
