GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The SC House of Representatives passed a bipartisan bill with an 86—18 vote that would extend paid parental leave for teachers and state employees by increasing leave for birth parents from six to 12 weeks and adding two weeks for non-birth parents. The bill is unlikely to pass the Senate before this session ends and will be reintroduced in January.  WRHI

SPORTS NEWS

  • On May 1st at Clover High School, seven area high schools competed in the Region 3-AAAAA Track and Field Championships—Fort Mill girls claimed the overall team title and Catawba Ridge boys secured the boys' championship.  WRHI
  • Inclement weather forced the postponement of the SCHSL Boys Class AAAA Lacrosse State Final between May River and Oceanside Collegiate Academy, with the match now set for Monday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Bluffton High School—earlier that day, the SCHSL Girls Class AAAA Lacrosse State Final experienced a two-hour delay before Oceanside won.  Tega Cay Sun
