- ➤ The Best Dam Food Festival arrives this Saturday, May 10, at Catawba Park in Tega Cay, offering eight hours of food and live music from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM with free shuttle service from Gold Hill Middle School at 4:00 PM — judges will count votes for Best Dessert and Best Entrée during the event. - ➤ Today, Fort Mill hosted its first Gardens to Guns event at Grace Presbyterian Church—seven unwanted firearms were surrendered and safely dismantled on-site into three shotguns and four pistols. The metal pieces will be sent to RAWtools in Asheville to be repurposed into garden tools and art as part of a national effort to fund future events. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ Today Fort Mill hosted its first Gardens to Guns event at Grace Presbyterian Church where volunteers dismantled seven unwanted firearms — three shotguns and four pistols — to safely retire inherited or unsafe guns. The dismantled metal will be sent to RAWtools South in Asheville to be repurposed into art that will help fund future events. WRHI

- ➤ Jessica Branham of Rock Hill was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College's ceremony at Leonard Auditorium on May 1—she was one of 39 students honored for academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. WRHI
- ➤ Spartanburg Methodist College announced the spring 2025 President’s and Dean’s lists after students met the high GPA criteria, with local recognition for Fort Mill students. Fort Mill’s Isabella Marz and Zoe Schwippert earned spots on the President’s List—while Parker Harrigan was named to the Dean’s List. Tega Cay Sun
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Agriculture inspected 207 restaurants in York County in April and most earned an A rating—six establishments that initially received a B corrected issues during follow-up inspections to meet food safety standards. Tega Cay Sun
