- ➤ Piedmont Medical Center Fort Mill held a memorial service this morning that honored EMS providers from the local area and across the country, with a bell rung for each name read. The National EMS Memorial Bike Rides Southern Route + South Carolina Memorial Bike Ride reached Fort Mill on Day 4 of their 7-day, 500-mile route, and members of the PMC team took part in the journey. - ➤ The Humane Society of York County in Fort Mill highlighted two adoptable pets: Zessin, a 2-year-old tabby who recovered from a chemical burn, and Arbys, a 9-month-old pup who has spent eight weeks at the shelter. HSYC has placed 54 dogs and 183 cats into homes so far this year and asks the community to call (803-802-0902) for adoption and volunteer opportunities. WRHI

- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Public Health joins partners for National Hurricane Preparedness Week from May 4-10 to urge residents to update evacuation plans, stock a three-day supply of necessities, and secure their homes before the hurricane season starts on June 1. - ➤ The SCHSL baseball playoffs began this week with teams from York and Lancaster counties entering postseason play in several divisions. In Division I, Clover High School hosted Byrnes on May 5 while in Division II, Nation Ford hosted Easley and Fort Mill awaited its opponent today—more games are scheduled for May 10 and updates will follow from The Tega Cay Sun. - ➤ Nation Ford's Lady Falcons won an 11-1 playoff game over Greenville on May 5 when they scored eight runs in the fourth inning. The team improved to a 15-8 record and will travel to Woodmont on May 7 for the next matchup. Fort Mill Prep Sports
- ➤ South Carolina High School League softball playoffs begin this week as teams from York and Lancaster counties compete — Fort Mill High travels to Easley Monday in Class 5A Division II. Games continue through May — state championship series are set for May 27, 29, and 31. WRHI
