  • Fort Mill High senior Chase Barrington-Hughes is racing to raise another $3,000 by May 13 to reach a total of $10,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He built his senior year on service by leading school groups and mentoring youth (a testament to his commitment).  Tega Cay Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Carolina legislators approved House Bill 5073 to ban minimum grade policies that once hid true student performance, and the bill now awaits Governor McMaster's signature. The new law will ensure report cards reflect mastery & restore academic standards in classrooms.  Tega Cay Sun
  • A cyberattack on Canvas last week compromised data for several local institutions in York and Lancaster counties, affecting students and staff at schools using the platform; Fort Mill School District remains secure using Google Classroom (the investigation continues).  Tega Cay Sun

  • Nation Ford lost 3-2 after TL Hanna scored a winning run late in the game, and will host an elimination matchup against Greenville today. Fort Mill fell 5-1 to Woodmont on the road and now faces an elimination game at Riverside today.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • Fort Mill High held its final signing of the 2025-2026 academic year (16 athletes chose colleges for sports like basketball, swimming, and soccer), with top signees Wallace Campbell and AJ Washington committing for basketball; other signees include swimmers, runners, a baseball player, a cheerleader and dancers.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
