GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • York County Utilities imposed mandatory water use restrictions under Stage 2 drought conservation after receiving about half its usual rainfall. Residential and commercial customers are asked to reduce non-essential water use (5-10%) to protect the local water system.  Tega Cay Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • Piedmont Medical Center in Fort Mill held a ribbon cutting on Thursday that celebrated a new Level III neonatal intensive care unit, designed to give advanced care for newborns. The 10+ bed unit will open on Tuesday, May 12 to help keep families together during treatment.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fort Mill lacrosse teams lost in the 5A state finals at Irmo High School on May 8 as Lucy Beckham edged the girls by one and swept the boys 11-1 with Cece Shia netting three, while the softball team beat Riverside in an elimination game and the girls’ soccer team fell on penalty kicks.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
