Good morning, Fort Mill. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 16th of May.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Carolina law says dash cams must be mounted on the dashboard, so local drivers should install them properly since placing them on the windshield is not allowed. Audio can be recorded because only one person’s consent is needed (this rule helps ensure dash cam footage is admissible in court) but these devices do not lower insurance rates.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Fort Mill girls track team won the 5A Division II state track championship by scoring 100 points—beating Nation Ford at Harry Patrone Stadium on May 15. This victory gave the school its 40th state athletic championship and marked the program's second track title.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • On May 15, Matt Hiers and Brown Simpson joined Manning Kimmel on Straight Talk—discussing proposed changes to the high school football league—addressing potential revisions that may affect local sports schedules.  WRHI
  • The Fort Mill High School boys golf team ended its season at the Upper State qualifier yesterday with several young players showing strong play. Although the team did not advance as a whole, Baker Tolentino and Noah Jones earned individual spots for the state championship next week — a sign of the team's promise.  Tega Cay Sun
