- ➤ Toppers Pizza closed its Tega Cay location today as employees were notified earlier. The store at 1177 Stonecrest Blvd, which opened on March 22, was the franchise's fourth branch and leaves local fans to visit Fort Mill's Doby’s Bridge branch. Tega Cay Sun

- ➤ Western Carolina University announced its Spring 2025 Dean’s List today, recognizing over 1,600 students who earned at least a 3.5 GPA—several of whom are from York and Lancaster counties. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ A new SC law signed by Governor Henry McMaster earlier this month ends meal-shaming and expands free and reduced-price lunch access in schools. The law requires schools with 40% or more eligible students to join the federal Community Eligibility Provision—schools can opt out only if they show financial hardship—and will take effect for the upcoming school year. - ➤ The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services is urging residents to learn about dam safety ahead of National Dam Safety Awareness Day on May 31—its program inspects nearly 2,200 state-regulated dams that form most freshwater lakes and supply water for our community. Tega Cay Sun

- ➤ The York County Sheriff’s Office has raised the starting salary for non-certified deputies to $53,578 and will provide a 5% raise after training—boosting pay to $59,069 as the department seeks more applicants committed to serving the community. WRHI
- ➤ York County issued a statement on May 27 clarifying that the Council did not have the power to order a halt to Silfab Solar operations amid calls for a cease-and-desist order and ongoing lawsuits.
