  • A company with York County ties is expanding its operations into Lancaster County—planning to open a new branch soon—according to a company statement.  WRHI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • House Rep John King was accused of misusing his power after he threatened to withhold state funding unless Chester provided detailed financial records requested through FOIA, including spending from 2022 and funds used for repairing the city’s recreation center. Chester officials said King’s actions crossed the line and disrupted proper oversight — a move that drew sharp local criticism.  WRHI
  • Motorists faced detours from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on May 30 and must follow new detours tonight on I-77 and S.C. 160 as crews from United Blythe Joint Venture work to widen the S.C. 160 bridge over I-77—installing a curved steel overpass. Law enforcement and contractors are on site to direct traffic and close lanes on southbound I-77 as needed.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Two York County House representatives announced they will donate their raises to support local projects + the move is part of their plan to give back to the community.  WRHI
  • South Carolina lawmakers will see their monthly pay rise if Governor McMaster signs the 2026 budget that more than doubles their salary from $1,000 to $2,500 starting July 1, 2026. Lawmakers will return to work in January 2026 under the new pay structure + the change comes with few spending limits.  Tega Cay Sun
