- ➤ On June 16, York County Council met at the Government Center to honor retiring Sheriff’s Department employee Melaki Fore and hold a public forum that addressed zoning changes and safety issues, including concerns about Silfab’s operations near a Fort Mill school. The council approved multiple zoning cases and capital projects such as Axon camera systems for the sheriff’s office, new water heaters at the county prison, and a renovation contract for the Moss Justice Booking Center while restructuring the Economic Development Board. - ➤ Governor McMaster signed H.3309, the South Carolina Energy Security Act, today with electric utility leaders and assembly members to secure the state’s energy future—streamlining energy project reviews to six months and promoting nuclear energy along with a pilot program for small modular reactors. - ➤ At its June 16 meeting, the Tega Cay City Council honored the Fort Mill High School Girls Track & Field team for winning the 5A Division II state championship and recognized two police officers for DUI enforcement awards. The council approved an ordinance for nighttime golf cart operation and introduced a law enforcement code update — public comments supported retaining the current Shore Club operator amid expiring contracts — as staff also discussed public safety, recreation fees, and Fourth of July plans.
