- ➤ Communities in York and Lancaster Counties and nearby areas will hold Independence Day celebrations in early July with events that will include fireworks, live music, and parades. In Fort Mill, the town will host a free celebration at Walter Y. Elisha Park on July 3 from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM with food and a fireworks finale at 9:15 PM. Tega Cay Sun
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Georgia Southern University announced its Spring 2025 academic honors yesterday, recognizing about 2,420 students on the President's List for a 4.0 GPA and 3,800 students on the Dean's List for a 3.5 GPA with at least 12 credit hours. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting this fall, the SCDMV will stop issuing same-day driver's licenses, permits, and IDs to help prevent identity fraud. Applicants will apply in person and receive a temporary paper document while their old or expired card is marked with a punched hole — both remain valid for 30 days as new, more secure cards are mailed from a centralized facility.
