BUSINESS NEWS

CULTURE NEWS

  • South Carolinians can watch the annual Perseid meteor shower from mid-July to late August, with the peak on August 12th into August 13th. EDUCATION NEWS

  • York School District One is looking to fill a Board seat by appointment for the remainder of a four-year term ending November 2028—applicants must live in the district and meet eligibility guidelines set by the County Election Commission. HEALTH NEWS

  • WalletHub's report ranked South Carolina as the third worst state to have a baby in 2024, citing high birth costs and low scores in care measures such as low birth-weight rates and limited availability of OB-GYNs, pediatricians, and child-care centers — signs that families face big challenges. The study urged officials and health care providers to improve maternal and infant care — a change needed to make the state more baby-friendly.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Fort Mill High players Connor Rasmussen and Mathieu Curtis, graduates of the class of 2022, were drafted on day two of the MLB Draft on July 14 + Curtis was chosen by the Atlanta Braves in the 14th round while Rasmussen was picked by the Kansas City Royals in the 15th round.
