ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Public Safety said nine people died in motor vehicle collisions from July 18 to July 20—adding to 465 fatalities statewide and including 14 deaths in York County. Tega Cay Sun
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Yellow Jackets Middle School basketball tryouts for the Fall 2025 season will be held on Sunday, August 10th at Gold Hill Middle School for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys who plan to attend Fort Mill High School—students who miss the tryout can join a makeup session on Monday, August 12th at 6:30 p.m. with advance registration required. - ➤ The York County Council met on July 21 at the Government Center and approved several rezoning requests—including changes for a Fort Mill property—while honoring veterans director Melinda Woodhurst on her retirement and advancing a $715,800 grant to expand opioid treatment in detention facilities. - ➤ Fort Mill Post 43 juniors advanced to the state semifinals after a win by a score of 1 to 0 against Richland Post 215 at Fort Mill High School on July 21 — pitcher Cole MacIntyre threw a complete game shutout in seven innings and the team improved to a record of 15 to 5. Fort Mill Prep Sports
