  • The Humane Society of York County in Fort Mill highlights Coffee Cake (a 4.5-year-old tabby ready for a quiet home) and Ellie May (a playful 5-month-old pup eager for a forever family) as part of its weekly pet spotlight while students return to school.   • Rock Hill man Jacquese Traveon Underwood (40) was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for orchestrating a drug trafficking scheme from behind bars (involving meth, cocaine, and fentanyl) as federal agents uncovered his operation using outside contacts and prison associates.  Tega Cay Sun

  • Local actress Taylor Farrar, who moved from Fayetteville years ago, is thriving in Fort Mill after landing a recurring role on BET+ series Divorced Sistas — she plays the teenage daughter of a main character and remains committed to her local community.  WRHI

  • Officials remind drivers that when a school bus uses its flashing red lights and extends its stop arm, vehicles must stop—stop-arm cameras capture violations used to issue citations and help keep children safe. State law enforcement and the public safety department urge extra care in school zones as students head back to school.  WRHI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Silfab Solar Inc. and Exeter 7149 Logistics appealed a York County Board of Zoning Appeals decision that reversed the light-industrial zoning for their new solar panel facility after over 300 residents challenged the classification. Legal disputes continue with permit issues and a wrongful termination lawsuit — and pending legislative bills may further impact the project.  WRHI
  • Today, as students head back to school, officials remind drivers to follow South Carolina bus laws that require a full stop when a school bus flashes red lights and extends its stop arm. On two-lane roads all vehicles must stop and on multi-lane highways only those in the same direction must, —violations can bring heavy fines or jail time.  Tega Cay Sun
