  • HSYC in Fort Mill is featuring two pets waiting for their forever homes: a 5-year, 4-month-old tabby named Diva and a 1-year, 8-month-old mixed breed dog named Rueben. The shelter at 8177 Regent Parkway asks locals to share their profiles and support adoption efforts — by donating or calling for help — to give these animals a new start.  Tega Cay Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson joined a bipartisan group of state lawyers asking WeChat to take stronger action against fentanyl trafficking & money laundering. The six AGs demand that the company act within 30 days to stop criminal groups from using its platform.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Yellow Jackets are working to improve after a 1-8 record last year with new offensive coordinator Bret Story, who comes from East Gaston and has coached at several schools. They will play in the Bill Pate White Rose Classic on Aug. 15 and open the season at home on Aug. 22 against Ballantyne Ridge—hoping this new system raises their game.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • John Van Vranken captured his first Tega Cay Men’s Club Championship with steady rounds of 71–71 for a total of 142, finishing four shots ahead of a three-way tie for second.
