  • Renowned artist Jim Shore announced his purchase of a historic building in downtown Rock Hill—he plans to transform it into a museum that will celebrate local art. Further details on the museum's exhibits and timeline are expected soon.  WRHI

  • The Humane Society of York County in Fort Mill features two adoptable pets this week—Panda, a playful nearly 5-month-old cat ready to find his forever home, and Tobi, a 1.5-year-old German Shepherd mix who arrived as a stray 51 days ago and now shows excellent fetch skills.   • Nation Ford Lady Falcons volleyball lost 3-1 to River Bluff Gators in their home opener — the loss brought their season record to 4-3. Head coach Craig Brown said the team will schedule tougher opponents as they prepare for their Region 3-5A opener on Tuesday, Sept. 2.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • The S.C. Prep Football Media Poll released Tuesday, Aug. 26 ranked high school football teams for classes from 5A to A with Dutch Fork topping Class 5A with 16 first-place votes and teams like Northwestern and Summerville also receiving votes. The poll shows early season records including 1—0 and 0—1 and lists media members such as Mac Banks and Lou Bezjak among the voters.  WRHI
  • Nation Ford Falcons lost 34-27 to Blythewood Bengals Friday as Kason Canupp threw for 375 yards and four touchdowns, and their losing streak reached ten games. On Friday, the Catawba Ridge Copperheads shut out the Chapin Eagles 30-0 and the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets beat the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves 52-6—Nation Ford will host York and the Yellow Jackets will face Chester at 7:30 p.m.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Nation Ford Falcons lost 34—27 to Blythewood Bengals in a shootout on Friday as their losing streak reached ten games, while Catawba Ridge Copperheads shut out Chapin Eagles 30—0 on the road. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets won 52—6 against Ballantyne Ridge Wolves in their home opener and will travel to Chester on Friday at 7:30 p.m.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Fort Mill High School sports teams will play several away games during the week starting August 25th. On Thursday, August 28th, girls varsity volleyball, girls junior varsity volleyball and boys junior varsity football will compete at Westwood and Catawba Ridge High Schools — and on Friday, August 29th, boys varsity football will play at Chester High School.  Tega Cay Sun
