- ➤ A Mecklenburg County detention officer named Aaron Tindall died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Fort Mill on S.C. Highway 460 near the S.C. 160 intersection when his Chrysler sedan left the road and struck a Honda Odyssey— the Honda driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries while the South Carolina Highway Patrol investigates the incident. - ➤ South Carolina has secured final funding to place a full-time, armed, and certified school resource officer in every public school—58 new positions have been funded and school districts will soon fill 119 additional roles. At the start of the school year, 1,106 schools had officers while 177 were awaiting coverage, and state leaders plan to complete the initiative soon. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ The Fort Mill Town Council met on August 25 to review a tiny home community proposal from resident Karen Kimp, an update from the Fort Mill History Museum, acceptance of new streets at Water Edge at the Catawba subdivision, and a contract with a local firm for four ADA-compliant picnic shelters at parks. The council also approved a purchase and sale agreement in executive session—details were not disclosed and housing concerns will be part of future discussions. WRHI
