- ➤ The Nation Ford High School marching band started its 2025 competitive season with a win at the C. Phillip McIntyre Tournament of Bands—where it was named Class 7A, Gold Division Grand Champions and overall Grand Champions while also earning Best Colorguard. The band will perform next at BandBeat on October 11 at Catawba Ridge High School. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ York High School's Cougar Band and Cougarettes earned the top prize for High Visual Effect and finished second overall at the C. Phillip McIntyre Tournament of Bands held Saturday at James F. Byrnes High School — the win marked a strong showing among top regional competitors. Tega Cay Sun
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Fort Mill High School marching band won the Charger Cup this weekend at Cox Mill High School in Concord by competing against 17 bands from across the Carolinas. They scored 91.8 in Class 6A and earned awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Overall Effect, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard—marking their second consecutive Grand Champion win. - ➤ Today through Saturday, high school sports events will take place in Fort Mill, Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge with several volleyball and football games scheduled at times from early evening to 7:30 p.m.—teams face opponents such as Indian Land, Northwestern, Rock Hill and Blythewood as schedules may change without notice.
