- ➤ HSYC in Fort Mill has named Mitsubishi as Cat of the Week and Bodega as Dog of the Week to showcase adoptable pets, with Mitsubishi having spent 97 days in the shelter as a stray and Bodega graduating from a training program; both animals are fully vetted and ready for new homes — prospective adopters can call 803-802-0902. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fort Mill School District high school marching bands swept weekend competitions as Catawba Ridge won top awards at Coastal Carolina University, Fort Mill High took the Grand Champion trophy at the Charger Cup in Concord and Nation Ford captured the Gold Division Grand Championship at Byrnes High. Catawba Ridge will host the BandBEAT Marching Band Championship on Saturday—Nation Ford will also compete. Tega Cay Sun
- ➤ Nation Ford High School was recognized as a 2024 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School by the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence after a two-day review — the school will receive its award at the Blue Ribbon Schools Conference in Orlando in December and its designation lasts for five years.
