BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kevin Devanney will launch The Garrison at Tega Cay in February, 2026, taking over the Shore Club space and offering wood fired pizzas and craft cocktails from his successful Pineville restaurants—he plans to keep the restaurant open during renovations. The venue will start with carry-out service and later add golf cart delivery as it upgrades the bar, deck and Glennon Center for special events.  Tega Cay Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • Two comets will light up the evening sky later this month as Comet Lemmon nears Earth on Oct. 21 and Comet SWAN brightens between Oct. 18—21; viewers are advised to head to dark, open areas and bring binoculars for a closer look. This rare double feature offers a chance to see these ancient visitors from the Oort Cloud and to enjoy a clear view under the new moon.  Tega Cay Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fort Mill School District will host a community update on the Flint Hill site on Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at Nation Ford High School Auditorium—district leaders and Citadel EHS experts will review air-quality testing results and emergency preparedness plans during a public Q&A session.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nation Ford’s girls’ volleyball team beat Fort Mill 3-1 on Thursday—extending their unbeaten region streak, while Nation Ford’s boys swept Fort Mill 3-0 at Fort Mill High School. Both schools advance to playoffs; Fort Mill will begin its run on Tuesday, Oct. 21—adding to a tight local rivalry.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Nation Ford's quarterback Kason Canupp threw four touchdown passes and led his team to a 41–34 win over Catawba Ridge on Friday night—an effort sealed by a late interception that stopped the final drive.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Nation Ford Falcons defeated Catawba Ridge 41 to 34 in a very close game today with quarterback Kason Canupp throwing five touchdown passes to give the team its first Region 3-5A win & raise their record to 4 to 4. Nation Ford will travel to Clover next week while Catawba Ridge will host Rock Hill.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • Local high school football games are set for tonight at 7:30 p.m.—Nation Ford hosts Catawba Ridge, Northwestern travels to Rock Hill, South Pointe heads to Lancaster, Clover faces Indian Land, and York welcomes Camden. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets are on a bye week after a 56-40 loss to Northwestern and will use the week to prepare for their next contest.  Tega Cay Sun
