CULTURE NEWS

  • On November 1, 25 high school bands from eight states gathered at Cass High School for the BOA Southeastern Regional competition where local bands excelled—Catawba Ridge was crowned champion while Nation Ford placed second and Fort Mill finished fourth.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Rock Hill will host ChristmasVille from December 5th to December 8th — a town-wide festival with nearly 70 events, including horse-drawn carriage rides, sled races, and artisan markets. The festival will light up downtown with festive lights and music and is expected to attract over 35,000 visitors.  Tega Cay Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the South Carolina Department of Education released the 2025 SC School Report Cards and showed that all three Fort Mill high schools received an excellent rating along with most middle and elementary schools—additionally, the district led the state in SC Ready ELA and Math, college and career-readiness, and a 95.9% on-time graduation rate. The report cards also rated schools on academic performance and graduation outcomes, confirming Fort Mill’s top state ranking.  Tega Cay Sun

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Home cooks in Fort Mill have three simple soup recipes to warm up with hearty flavors using pantry staples such as tomatoes, sausage, and chicken. The recipes offer quick methods and even suggest pairing tomato basil soup with grilled cheese + fresh toppings for comfort on colder days.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • All three high schools in Fort Mill are competing in the Class 5A-D2 post season with key football and dance events scheduled later this week. Fort Mill High School will play football on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Catawba Ridge and host its dance invitational on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.—fans should check with schools for final details.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Nation Ford Falcons fell to the Woodmont Wildcats in a tight Upper State championship match after a rule mistake in the final set cost them the win—ending their season at 36-8. The team rallied from behind to tie the match before a mental lapse led to the final point for the Wildcats.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • Fort Mill High School beat Nation Ford 42—35 when Broden Mitcheson scored a touchdown run from 1 yard out with less than a minute left, ending a long losing streak against their rival. The game was high-scoring as both teams traded touchdowns before Fort Mill pulled ahead with key plays in the final minutes.  Tega Cay Sun
