Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 23rd of November.
Good morning, Fort Mill.
The Gamecocks will host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at Williams-Brice Stadium at 4:15 p.m. ET on Saturday, November 29—this game is part of a two-game nonconference home stand and marks Senior Day honoring 23 players, including a Fort Mill High graduate.
The team aims to salvage in-state pride after a challenging season.
Fort Mill wrestling sought a fourth consecutive state dual title when they opened their season yesterday, building on last year’s 19-0 record and a strong showing at the Venom Duals at Catawba Ridge—head coach Adam Marullo said captain Lincoln Greene and other returning state qualifiers are gearing up for tougher meets including the Southern Slam from Dec. 5 to Dec. 6 and a home tri-match on Dec. 16.
At the 5A Division II state championship on November 22 at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, the Catawba Ridge team (the Copperheads) scored 309 points to finish second behind Chapin's 334 points.
The local Fort Mill team finished fifth with 257.5 points while head cheer coach Kristin Rhodes said the result marked years of hard work (a milestone for the squad).
