If you live near Logistics Lane, here's where things stand. gave state regulators 72-hour notice Friday that it's ready to restart work involving industrial chemicals at its Fort Mill plant. The notice was required under an agreement made after two chemical releases in March halted those plans.

Silfab's Fort Mill plans come with big numbers

WSOC reports commissioning restarts Monday. Queen City News says the notice period expires Tues., Nov. 10, and the Fort Mill School District says state regulators told its lawyers a restart "does not mean that Silfab will immediately begin its manufacturing process." Silfab says state and York County officials will keep access to the site.

  • Deliveries come first: three to four weeks before commissioning starts
  • Chemicals in the process: hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid and silane
  • Next door: Flint Hill Elementary and Flint Hill Middle schools

The legal fight isn't settled. The Fort Mill School District and Wally Buchanan, whose home is next to the business park, have asked to join York County's court case over whether Silfab can operate in its light-industrial zone. Silfab and the county contend the zoning decision should apply only to future solar projects.
