- ➤ Duke Energy and York County emergency management officials will test 89 outdoor warning sirens near Catawba Nuclear Station on April 9th between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The test features short blasts (lasting five to 30 seconds) to ensure the system works properly, and no action is needed by residents. - ➤ Residents living within a 10-mile radius of the Catawba Nuclear Station will hear routine siren tests on April 9th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—Duke Energy and York County emergency management officials will activate 89 sirens that sound for 5 to 30 seconds and may be tested more than once to ensure the warning system works properly.
