CRIME NEWS

  • A York County woman, Leigh Flynt Kohn, was arrested on Sept. 5 on charges of tax evasion and failure to file after she allegedly did not report $281,000 in income from her employer funds in her 2023 and 2024 returns — she is held at the York County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.  Tega Cay Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor McMaster has issued an executive order directing DSS to request a federal waiver that would ban candy, energy drinks, soft drinks and sweetened beverages purchased with SNAP benefits; the order exempts milk products, juices, sports drinks and infant formula. DSS will submit the waiver request within 14 days and revise it as needed+ the move follows national efforts to support healthier eating.  Tega Cay Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nation Ford beat River Bluff 20-17 as the Falcons rallied with a game-winning touchdown with 43 seconds left—improving their record to 2-1 and setting up a game against Richland Northeast on Sept. 11.  Fort Mill Prep Sports
  • The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets won 33—7 against Blythewood on Friday with a strong defensive game that featured key turnovers and short rushing touchdowns—improving their record to 3—0; they will host Lancaster in their next game.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Catawba Ridge beat Chester 27-24 on Friday night after a late touchdown pass and a final-minute interception secured the win — the Copperheads improved to 2-1 and will travel to Spring Valley next Thursday.  Tega Cay Sun
  • Nation Ford Falcons overcame a 17-14 deficit with a last-minute 24-yard touchdown from Kason Canupp to Asher Beck to win 20-17 over River Bluff Gators in a Friday night game—defense helped secure the victory. The Falcons will travel to Richland Northeast on Sept. 11 to build on this comeback win.  Tega Cay Sun
